CLERKENWELl

DESIGN WEEK

Responding to a competition brief for Clerkenwell Design Week in 2019, I designed a print representing the history at my allocated site - The House of Detention. The winning design would be displayed in public in Clerkenwell at the designated site during Clerkenwell Design Week.

The print features icons like a blue cockade which is a symbol of the Protestant Association whose members were responsible for destroying the prison in the 1780 Gordon Riots. The print aims to engage passers-by with the bold colours and as they come closer and identify the icons, they can refer to the accompanying key which explains more about the site's history through its use and events that took place there.
